Toronto Police officer charged with assault

Dec. 7, 2023, Toronto, Ont. – A Toronto Police officer has been arrested and charged by the Toronto Police Service’s Professional Standards Unit.

It is alleged that on Dec. 6, 2023, a man and a woman were involved in a dispute, and the man assaulted the woman.

On Dec. 6, Cst. Catalin Dorobantu, 42, was charged with assault. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, on Jan. 18, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.

Cst. Dorobantu, of 32 Division, has nine years of service and is suspended with pay as per the Police Services Act.
