Dec. 7, 2023, Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. – A Sault Ste. Marie Police Service officer is scheduled to appear in court next month now that he has been accused of sexual assault.

Sgt. Marc Dubie is facing two counts of sexual assault, contrary to section 271 of the Criminal Code of Canada, following multiple incidents that allegedly took place in December 2022 and involved two women.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU), a civilian police oversight agency for the province of Ontario, was tasked with examining Dubie’s case and recently concluded that there was sufficient evidence to proceed with sexual assault charges.

As a result, Dubie is now required to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on Jan. 8 to deal with these matters.

The SIU stated in a Tuesday news release that it will not provide further comment on this investigation, as the matter is now before the court.
