Supreme Court dismisses Ottawa police appeal to lower standard of proof for officers

An Ottawa lawyer is considering a constitutional challenge to clarify the standard of proof required at police disciplinary hearings in Ontario after the Supreme Court of Canada dismissed an appeal to lower the standard.

Lawrence Greenspon said Thursday he was “disappointed” by the decision of Canada’s highest court to toss out an application for leave to appeal launched by the Ottawa Police Service in August.
