Montreal journalist’s phone records part of probe into alleged rogue cop, warrants show

Newly unsealed search warrants have revealed that a police investigation of a Montreal journalist last year was part of a wider investigation into allegations of a rogue cop.

The investigation began in September 2015 when a confidential informant complained to his police handler about another police officer named Fayçal Djelidi. He alleged that the rogue cop frequented massage parlours, planted bags of heroin on suspects and wrote misleading police reports.
