July 26, 2022, Estevan, Sask. – A substantial donation from the 2021 Jay Pierson Memorial Golf Tournament has been made to OSI-CAN Saskatchewan Division. OSI-CAN is a community-based peer support initiative which facilitates group support and relationship building for Military, first responders and public safety personnel dealing with operational stress injuries (OSI) and post-traumatic stress injuries (PTSI). OSI-CAN is a program of the Mental Health Association and operates strictly on private funding providing financial assistance to those first responders in need that are not covered through insurance.

Jeremy Taman from the Tournament Organizing Committee met with the director of this division on May 16, 2022, and had a thorough explanation of what this organization does to assist first responders with Mental Health Concerns. This organization has 16 support groups in the province of Saskatchewan consisting of councilors with experience in first responder issues.

Members of the organizing committee were very pleased to announce that they were able to donate $5445.86 on May 31, 2022, to assist this organization in their ongoing efforts toward the betterment of first responders with mental health concerns. These funds were raised in conjunction with the Estevan Police Association at last year’s Jay Pierson Memorial Golf Tournament. Thanks to the overwhelming support from local business’ in Estevan and all of the attendees at last year’s tournament, which sold out in less than twenty-four hours. This year’s tournament is being held on August 6th, 2022, at Woodlawn Golf Course in Estevan, Sask., and they look forward to another successful year. All of the funds raised will be going to benefit an organization of their choosing to assist with these concerns in memory of their late friend Constable Jay Pierson.
