“City council approved the purchase of 120 Generation 5 Glock 9-mm handguns for the Delta Police Department, awarding the contract of $86,567 to Rampart International,” the article reads.
Deputy Chief Norm Lipinski confirmed to Blue Line that “this spring Delta Police is moving to the Gen 5 9mm caliber Glock pistol, replacing its Glock Model 22, Gen 3, which is about 14 years old on average.”
He said, “the 9mm offers many advantages, including that it fits our existing holsters and magazine pouches, and uses many of the same replacement parts we currently have in our inventory.”
In addition, he said the 9 mm platform has “less recoil and allows for better accuracy. That means our police department can spend less time on remedial training and more time on tactics at the range.”
The North Delta Reporter also reported the Rampart contract includes the addition of Trijicon night sights for the Glocks.
