
Supreme Court upholds Alberta drug-trafficking conviction

OTTAWA - The smell of freshly burnt marijuana and a wad of cash was enough evidence for police to arrest a man in Alberta four years ago, the Supreme Court of Canada says.
In a short ruling handed down Thursday, the court said an RCMP officer did nothing unconstitutional when he arrested Derek Loewen and then searched his car on a hunch.
