From August 20 to 22, the 118th Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) Annual Summit and Trade Show gathered policing leaders and vendors from across the country in the beautiful city of Ottawa. The trade show floor featured over 150 booths and 300 exhibitors, and the event saw a total of 486 attendees.

Blue Line was among the exhibitors present, and so many great conversations were had with each person we encountered. We had the opportunity to reconnect with old friends, but also make new friends of all those we saw over the course of the event.

The conference hosted sessions focusing on a variety of topics, including:

  • The changing face of Canada: What you need to know
  • War and police: How Ukrainian refugees have changed policing in Poland
  • A changing Canada and the impact on the workforce
  • Access to justice for undocumented migrants, immigrants and foreign victims/survivors
  • Foreign actor interference and what it means to the communities you serve
  • Lived experience: The immigrant’s story
  • Lessons learned and opportunities ahead for police and their communities
  • Learning from tragedy: The Portapique timeline and the RCMP’s way forward

We had the opportunity to reconnect with old friends, but also make new friends of all those we saw over the course of the event.

  • CACP International Policing Award (awarded to Corporal Chris Smith, RCMP – Project AEGIS)
  • CACP Award of Excellence for Combating Organized Crime (awarded to RCMP – Project AL-COBRA)

On Monday, Aug. 21, CACP also hosted the annual gala reception and banquet, where delegates and exhibitors alike were dressed in their best.

We can’t wait to see you all again at the 119th CACP, taking place in Halifax, N.S., in 2024!
