Winnipeg Police Names New Chief
Danny Smyth has been selected as the new chief of the Winnipeg Police Service. Smyth is a 30 year member of the service, most recently serving as deputy in charge of the investigative branch.
In In addition to uniform patrol he also worked in the vice and surveillance units, helped establish a full-time tactical team and the street crime unit. Smyth holds a BA and a Masters Degree in Organizational Management and lectured in the criminal-justice field at the University of Winnipeg until 2014. He was appointed the Aide de Camp to the Lieutenant Governor in 2010.
