RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador announced that Klondike Night will return to RCMP Headquarters in 2020, with the date set for March 27. Klondike Night began with RCMP NL more than 30 years ago, with a total of more than $970,000 raised for local charities over the years.
“Klondike Night is a signature event for the RCMP and we are excited to bring it back,” said Assistant Commissioner Ches Parsons, Commanding Officer RCMP NL. “The public can expect a fun night with live entertainment, prizes, blackjack, roulette and other games of chance, along with hearty grub from the Klondike Kitchen. I expect that in 2020 we will top the $1,000,000 mark in total monies raised for the benefit of charitable organizations in our province.”
Klondike 2020 admission tickets are just $10 and can be purchased at the Church Lads’ Brigade (C.L.B.) on Harvey Road, VOCM on Kenmount Road, RCMP Headquarters 100 East White Hills Road or online.
The RCMP, C.L.B. and VOCM will also be selling Grand Prize tickets at $5 each with the top prize being a trip for two to New York City to see the Broadway hit show Come From Away (or a $3000 travel voucher).
Charities for this year’s event are:
- The C.L.B.
- VOCM Cares Foundation
- The Memory Garden, a project of the Fallen Members Fund, to be built at RCMP Headquarters. The garden will be a place to remember all RCMP NL employees who have passed.
Colonel Gail Dick, Governor and Commandant of the C.L.B. welcomed the news. “I am very pleased that Klondike Night is returning to its home were it all began. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the RCMP for letting us take care of Klondike Night for the last few years and for bringing us onboard as a charity for this year’s event. The funds raised will help us continue to support programs for our youth and give them the tools to become the future leaders of our province.”
