Two years after the defund the police movement, police budgets increase across Canada

Jan. 9, 2023, Toronto, Ont. – The worldwide protests against police racism and violence in the summer of 2020 brought greater public attention to police spending. In city after city, activists and other residents demanded that governments defund the police and reinvest in communities.
