Saskatoon Police dismiss three members after investigation

September 10, 2025

Sep. 10, 2025, Saskatoon, Sask. – The Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) recently announced the dismissal of three members deemed unsuitable for police service under The Police Act, 1990. This action follows a lengthy investigation by SPS Professional Standards stemming from an off-duty gathering in September 2024.

The dismissed individuals include two constables with nine and ten years of service, respectively, and a special constable with two years of service. These three were among five officers initially suspended in connection with the incident; the other two officers returned to duty in April 2025 after their investigations concluded.

Chief of Police Cam McBride stated that these actions reflect the Service’s “commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and accountability,” emphasizing that “no one is above the expectations of this organization or the trust placed in us by the community.” He acknowledged that dismissing an officer is a serious decision, but necessary when conduct “falls short of the standards our community expects and deserves.”

While the SPS Professional Standards investigation into the incident is complete, the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) continues to investigate one aspect of the matter.

The incident and subsequent investigations have generated concern within the Service and the community, with local media reporting displays of support for suspended members and raising questions regarding the integrity of undercover operations. Chief McBride recognized these concerns, reiterating that public trust and the well-being of all members remain priorities, and affirmed his dedication to leading an organization that upholds the Code of Ethics.

In addition to this primary investigation, the SPS has managed three other unrelated suspensions since November 2024. A 22-year sergeant, suspended in November 2024, was dismissed in March 2025. Two other investigations are ongoing, with the members remaining suspended.

The Saskatoon Police Service emphasized that public trust is founded on transparency, and it is committed to sharing the conclusions of all ongoing investigations and appeal processes as they become available.
