As technology continues to evolve, so too do the tactics used by criminals to exploit it. From ransomware to online fraud, digital tools are now being weaponized to victimize Canadians at scale. This presentation explores the critical intersection of cybersecurity and policing, examining how law enforcement must adapt to an increasingly complex threat landscape.

Led by Staff Sergeant Mike Lalande of the Calgary Police Service’s Cyber Forensics Unit, this session will highlight how criminals are using emerging technologies to evade detection and target individuals, organizations, and infrastructure. It will also explore how police services can develop new investigative approaches, build technical capacity, and implement strategies to capture and preserve digital evidence.
