Toronto registers 89th homicide of the year, tying previous record
Toronto police say the city has tied its previous record for homicides as of Wednesday morning.

Police were called to the city’s west end in the early morning hours after receiving reports that 10 shots had been heard.
They say an unidentified male was found without vital signs and later pronounced dead in hospital.
His death is being investigated as the city’s 89th homicide, tying the city’s previous record last registered in 1991.
Police statistics show an increase in shooting deaths in 2018, with 46 recorded so far this year compared to 35 in 2017 and 34 the year before.
But the year’s overall death toll also reflects two major incidents — April’s van attack that killed 10 pedestrians, and a July shooting in the popular Danforth neighbourhood that left a woman and a child dead.
