Toronto Police officer charged

Feb. 16, 2023, Toronto, Ont. – An officer has been arrested and criminally charged by the Toronto Police Service.

It is alleged that on Feb. 15, 2023, an off-duty Toronto Police officer attended Sherway Gardens at approximately 4:30 p.m. and parked his personal vehicle. When he returned, he discovered that his vehicle had been broken into. A bag containing his service firearm had been stolen from his vehicle, at which point he contacted police.

Detective Constable Eugene Lee, 50, was arrested by the Toronto Police Service and criminally charged with:

  1. Careless storage of a firearm
  2. Careless storage of ammunition

He is scheduled to appear at court on March 6, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Toronto, at 2 p.m. in room 201.

Detective Constable Lee, who is assigned to the Toronto Drug Squad, has 14 years of service and is suspended with pay as per the Police Services Act.
