In a tweet, police say they will focus their efforts on the city’s downtown.

Spokeswoman Const. Caroline de Kloet says the force is “erring on the side of caution” but did not elaborate further.

Police are expected to provide an update on their investigation at 11:30 a.m. at a downtown park.

Meanwhile, the premier’s office said it is aware of an “unsubstantiated” report of a potential threat in Toronto.

It said Premier Doug Ford has been briefed by the provincial security adviser and is actively monitoring the situation.

“Our officials remain in close contact with federal and municipal security partners,” Ford said in a statement.

Mayor John Tory’s office said he was also briefed on the situation by police Chief Mark Saunders earlier this morning and will continue to monitor the situation.
