The making of a spy: How the RCMP came to use Abdullah Milton against an Ottawa terror cluster

While visiting Ottawa as a tourist in January 2011, Abdullah Milton took photos of Parliament Hill and the Saudi embassy. After posting them on Facebook he was visited by CSIS agents and questioned about his activities, according to a story published by the Ottawa Citizen.

Then in early 2014 his name came up during an RCMP terrorism investigation in Ottawa, and Milton eventually became a paid agent, assisting the RCMP with their investigation of an ISIL network in Ottawa.

In the article, his work was reported to have been used in the trials and convictions of three men, with one additional male still before the courts on related terrorism charges.
