The Special Investigations Unit says Debra Chrisjohn was arrested in London, Ont., by members of the London Police Service in September for allegedly disrupting traffic at an intersection.

She was later taken to an OPP detachment in Elgin County because of an outstanding warrant.

The SIU says that, later that evening, she was rushed to hospital and pronounced dead.

OPP Const. Mark McKillop and London police Const. Nicholas Doering are facing one count each of criminal negligence causing death and failing to provide the necessaries of life.

The agency did not release Chrisjohn’s cause of death, adding that no further comment would be made as the matter is before the courts.

The Special Investigations Unit is an arms-length agency that investigates allegations of serious injury, death, or sexual assault at the hands of Ontario police officers.
