I will also want to bend your ear about a new program the OPC is engaged in and that is the “Road to Mental Readiness (R2MR)” training. The material has been developed by the Canadian Military and has been in use for a while. It deals with resilience type training related to occupational stress injuries. We have been working with the Mental Health Commission of Canada, the Canadian Military and the Calgary police who were the leaders in adapting the military material to a policing context. The OPC will be the ”hub” for R2MR training. We ran our first train the trainer session this week and we start with recruits when they arrive in early January. The big task will be getting all existing sworn and civilian police personnel up to speed on the training and what it means in your day to day job. Exciting project that is rolling out as we speak.
Take care. Thanks for staying connected.
