REGINA — A Regina man who tried to escape police by climbing a tree has come down after a standoff lasting more than four hours.
Police say plainclothes officers were following a suspect in a stolen auto case.
The man was first in a vehicle and then on a bicycle, but when he realized officers were following him, he scurried up a tree.
The man smoked a cigarette, then shook a small branch and shouted profanities at the officers.
Officers set up a perimeter and brought EMS and fire crews to the scene, then waited him out.
