April 27, 2021  By Canadian Press

April 27, 2021 – Moosomin RCMP in Saskatchewan are warning retailers to be on the lookout for a couple suspected of trying to pass counterfeit US cash in at least two communities in southeast Saskatchewan..

On Monday, April 26, a man and a woman entered multiple businesses in Whitewood, Moosomin and possibly other communities, according to Moosomin RCMP.

They made purchases using counterfeit American money. At some locations small amounts of the counterfeit money was accepted.

At one location in Moosomin the suspects attempted to purchase nearly $1,000 worth of merchandise but were declined.

Over $1,000 of counterfeit money was observed by employees and is believed to still be in possession by the suspects.

“At this time the suspects have been identified by RCMP and are known to reside in Manitoba,” said Sgt Dallyn Holmstrom of the Moosomin RCMP. “At this time RCMP are trying to avoid more businesses and people from becoming victims.”

The suspects told people in most businesses they entered that they were coming home from Minot and going to see their mother in Manitoba and that was why they had so much American money.

“At this time it is not known what direction the suspect are travelling but it is believed they are travelling east as the suspects were in Whitewood prior to being in Moosomin around 1 pm on April 26,” said Holmstrom.
