Police artists group raises more than $2,500 for charity at 11th art show

The Police Artists of Peel group, comprised of a dozen civilian, sworn, currently serving and retired members of the Peel Regional Police, recently hosted its 11th annual art show in Brampton, Ont., and raised more than $2,500 for charity.

The event saw just under 200 visitors over the four hours, said Shawn McCowell, the chair of the Police Artists of Peel and a recently retired staff sergeant. All funds raised through the art are going towards a new non-profit, called Boots on the Ground, geared to offering over-the-phone and in-person support to first responders throughout the province.

The Police Artists of Peel group is a collection of painters, sketchers, photographers and stained glass artisans who work throughout the year, creating and donating original works in support of a multitude of charitable endeavours, such as Special Olympics Ontario and Boots on the Ground.
