Mississauga, ON, May 24, 2022 – Panasonic Enterprise Solutions Division of Panasonic Canada Inc., has launched the TOUGHBOOK 40, a fully-rugged, modular laptop that is engineered to deliver next level power, speed and connectivity to support the evolving needs of mobile workers. Compared to the previous model, the TOUGHBOOK 40 is over a pound lighter despite having a larger display. The TOUGHBOOK 40 is designed to allow customers across police services, federal agencies and utilities to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.

With a 14’’ FHD touchscreen display, the TOUGHBOOK 40 is said to increase readability and usability. With eight modular user-replaceable areas including four expansion (xPAK) areas, as well as battery, memory, storage and keyboard, there are more options to customize and protect technology investments as needs shift.

The device’s processing performance and wireless capabilities are engineered to provide reliable connectivity for important jobs – whether responding to an emergency situation or communicating critical information during a military operation. The TOUGHBOOK 40 delivers with 11th Gen Intel® vProTM processors, with optional AMD dedicated graphics* or Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics boosting computing power to process large amounts of data, images and video feeds in real-time. The TOUGHBOOK 40 was also designed with a 5MP webcam. It features a privacy cover for security and infrared capability to support Windows Hello facial recognition.

The TOUGHBOOK 40 is designed to provide voice accuracy with its tetra array microphones and 95db front speakers. Designed with the user experience in mind, the TOUGHBOOK 40 also features improved screen brightness steps, a colour-selectable backlit keyboard, backlit power button and backlit keyboard icons for easier night-viewing in low-light environments such as during a night patrol. For enhanced flexibility, Panasonic also reengineered the resistive touchpad to be 60 per cent larger while still being usable in the rain or wearing gloves.
