Nipigon OPP arrest three after traffic stop leads to drug charges

Feb. 17, 2021 – Three people are in custody awaiting bail hearings after a traffic stop led to drug charges on Thursday afternoon in Nipigon.

Ontario Provincial Police stopped an eastbound vehicle for speeding on Feb. 11, at 3:45 p.m., according to a news release. The driver was found to be in violation of his release conditions.

A search of the vehicle led police to locate and seize cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl and cash.

The driver, Matthew Kwasi Asare-Boah, 32, of North York is charged with one count of possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Michael Shawn Anderson, 47, of Brantford is charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Cheyanne Maglove, 23, of North Bay is charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and one count of failing to comply with a release order.

All three have been remanded into custody pending a bail hearing.
