Halifax Regional Police say the silver 9-mm handgun was taken from an off-duty Mountie’s personal vehicle on Granville Street on Saturday evening.

Three magazines and ammunition were also stolen.

In a news release, police describe the gun as a “Smith & Wesson model 5946 pistol with an RCMP logo showing ‘RCMP,’ a silhouette of a horse and rider and ‘GRC’ inscribed on the right side of the slide.”

They say the magazines are also silver.
