Saint John Police Force Chief Bates to retire this spring
John Bates, the 25th chief of the Saint John Police Force, has announced his intention to retire this spring.
He was appointed chief in October 2015, and began his policing career with the Brantford Police Service in 1985 where he served for 21 years prior to being appointed deputy chief of the Stratford Police Service in 2006. He served as both deputy chief and then as the chief in Stratford for nine years.
