New firm provides strategic communications for first responders

Duty Calls Communications, a new firm specializing in providing strategic communications advice, media and crisis communications training, and writing services to emergency service agencies, launches today.

From the frontline to the executive offices, founder Roxanne Beaubien has provided communications and media relations expertise to policing services across Canada for nearly two decades.

“With the unique background of working as a strategic communications and media relations professional at the local, regional, provincial and national levels of policing at
various locations across Canada, I am really looking forward to using my extensive experience to help agencies be more effective in communicating with the public they
serve and with their members,” Beaubien said.

In addition to working as a newspaper journalist for five years, Beaubien worked for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario for 13 years.

She also worked with the Calgary Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police and, most recently, was the Corporate Communications and Media Relations Manager with
the London Police Service. A former college-level, part-time professor, she also has extensive experience delivering media relations and marketing workshops to police officers across the country, and has presented at national and local conferences.
