September 6, 2021  By Canadian Press

Sept. 6, 2021 – Melfort, Sask., RCMP issued an emergency alert Sunday night as they searched for a suspect in a shooting involving multiple victims.

Police said in a release that the shooting happened on the James Smith First Nation, about 180 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon.

The release did not say exactly how many people were shot or provide information about their injuries.

However, the alert urges area residents to shelter in place, stay away from windows, not answer the door unless asked to do so by police, and not to pick up any hitchhikers.
