Gordon Cobey named the new police chief for Guelph Police Service

RCMP inspector Gordon Cobey (photo) has been named the new police chief for the Guelph Police Service in Ontario.

He replaces Jeff DeRuyter, who is retiring after 35 years. Most recently, Cobey was the officer in charge of the RCMP Toronto West Detachment and the Toronto West Serious and Organized Crime Unit. He joined the RCMP in 1993 as a constable, working in remote northern communities and rural southern communities in Manitoba.
