Blue Line was in Niagara Falls earlier this week for a glimpse of the Fall 2018 Canadian Critical Incident (CCII) Training Seminar. Special thanks to president Tom Hart for the invite.

The agenda included a NYPD hostage taking of a NYPD detective case study, presented by Lt. Jack Cambria NYPD (Retired).

Cambria handed out tips to the negotiators in the room during his presentation, telling them how every demand from a subject is an opportunity to open a dialogue and to use silence to their advantage, among other shared experiences.

Kris Size and Bob Walli of the OPP also presented on an armed barricade and Dr. Peter Collins – stay tuned to Blue Line to see more from Collins in future issues! – talked on mental illness and negotiation strategies.
