For officers interacting with a deaf or hard-of-hearing person, lipreading doesn’t always work due to darkness and reaching for a paper can be dangerous.

App MyEar converts voice to text in real time. The app also has larger text size and different text colours to accommodate seniors and make the text easier to read.

The police officer can talk directly into their iPhone or iPad and it will convert their voice to text in real time so the deaf person can read what they’re saying. The hard-of-hearing or deaf person can also use their voice to respond back.
